Just arrived in Buffalo and I had an hour to kill and I was hungry so I fired up Yelp and Shy's Original Steakhouse popped up. Boy was I glad it did. First things first--Shy's is a hole-in-the-wall, almost literally. You walk in and there are no tables; just a seated waiting area. You order from a small counter and then wait, but man, is it worth it. I was handed a white bag with a tightly wrapped steak hoagie nestled inside. If you want a drink to go with, you get it yourself out of a vending machine. The steak hoagie was fabulous. Shy's style is more minced than chopped, so the peppers, mushrooms and onions are fully incorporated into the meaty, cheesy mass on the roll. The roll itself was fresh and slightly toasted--just perfect. For a hungry person, this totally hit the spot. If I had been hungover, it would have been heaven and I'd be napping right now. NOTE: Shy's only takes cash but there is an ATM on premises. Six minute ride from downtown Buffalo, and we'll worth it!

SOOO good, extra cheese, extra sauce hits every time. Prices are perfect, staff is nice and they get you out quick every time. Trust me, so good youre gonna crave it

This food is so good it makes me wanna buy out there whole supplies and one of there chefs. there food is a work of goodness and one of there chefs David I believe his name was. needs a raise because omg he Was amazing at cooking my steak sub! and the wait was not long. i don't live in buffalo any more but this food made me wanna buy a whole house and stay down there for longer. if u are in buffalo don't walk. run down to shys original steakhouse and get some of that good steak sub!!

This steakhouse has never failed me. it has the best steak subs around Buffalo. And don't get me started on the customer service it's outstanding The food has my mouth watering if ur in Buffalo u have to try it

We go here every year all the way from Atlanta. The subs are top notch. Highly recommend.

Steak hoagie was on-point. Reminds me quite a bit of the former Original Steakhouse (on E Delevan) - right down to the smell, taste, and foil wrap presentation. Highly recommended!

Buffalo (East Side) take on the classic Philly cheesesteak - and it's OUTSTANDING! Not SHY (HA!) with the meat at this hole in the wall takeout place. Didn't phone ahead (like most of the customers had on this busy Friday afternoon), but it was just a short wait. HIGHLY Recommend! [Note: Like most Buffalo area cheesesteaks, it comes with a tasty sauce. If you want it authentic Philly style, just ask for your hoagie without it.]

Don't expect too much from this place in terms of ambiance or location, but I'll tell you what- this is the most delicious steak sub you will ever eat in your entire life. The service is great and everyone is always friendly. The prices are just right and this sun is LOADED. You will be messy after this meal! 5/5 all day

Nobody likes to be compared to someone else. But at times you have no choice. Shy's is very similar to Scotty's, if you know then you know. So don't hesitate to come down and get yourself a great sub. Be mindful, they may not answer the phone. If you have some time, you may find it easier to just come on down and order.
